Looking back... 20 years of Globethics
The founding workshop that launched Globethics.net, renamed Globethics in 2023, took place in August 2004 at the Château de Bossey, Switzerland in the presence of an international group of applied ethics experts.
The workshop was convened by Christoph Stückelberger, Professor of Ethics and current President of Globethics, with the vision to provide a platform for all those interested in applied ethics to be able to exchange on and share knowledge resources via an online network and library. Nearly twenty years after its launch, Globethics is an international organisation with regional centres around the world and a global network of academic, civil society, and inter-governmental partners.
The Globethics vision of ethical leadership for a just, inclusive and sustainable world is one of hope grounded in the reality of what can be achieved with you and our community.

This year, Globethics is hosting the ICDE Leadership Summit from 5-7 June 2024 at Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland. Join us and engage with high-level experts and policymakers exploring the Summit theme: Ethical Leadership in the Age of AI: Rethinking Futures of Education. Registration and the call for contributions are now open!
From 2 - 4 September 2024, Globethics will organise the 7th Global Ethics Forum at Maison de la Paix in Geneva, Switzerland. The Global Ethics Forum is one of Globethics' flagship events, with six global conferences organised between 2009 and 2016, five in Geneva, Switzerland, and one in Bangalore, India. Its goal is to provide a platform for inspiration, exchange/reflection, networking, and action in order to foster values-driven individuals and institutions across sectors. From 24 September to 8 October 2024, Globethics, in partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, will organise its first Doctoral School for PhD candidates from around the world. Under the title Inclusive Peace and Responsible Governance, 20 doctoral candidates in their early research phase, will be selected by an international scientific committee to take part in a peer-to-peer programme accompanied by leading academic teachers with expertise in the thematic area. Globethics’ vision is to promote ethical leadership for a just, inclusive and sustainable world. The first Globethics Youth Leadership Award is launched in our 20th Anniversary year to further that vision in the next 20 years by recognising, honouring and empowering young leaders from around the world striving for positive, ethical change in their community, institution, society, nation, region or even globally.
