Globethics provides the platform for a global push for ethical AI
The Global Ethics Forum (GEF) 2025, hosted by Globethics in Geneva, marked a milestone in the global movement for ethical and inclusive artificial intelligence, announcing major initiatives to strengthen international cooperation and gender inclusion in AI. Serving as an official pre-event to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, GEF 2025 set the stage for ongoing global dialogue on responsible AI governance.
Globethics to Lead Key Subgroup in UNESCO Global AI Ethics Network
UNESCO presented its Global Network of Civil Society Organizations and Academic Institutions on AI Ethics and Policy, announcing Globethics as chair of the subgroup “Empowering Citizens and Civil Society in AI Governance.” This subgroup will focus on training and mobilising organisations—especially from the Global Majority—to shape inclusive, ethical AI policies.
“This initiative aims to empower and amplify the voices of civil society and academia in global policy dialogues on AI, while fostering knowledge exchange and capacity building,” said Camilo Sarmiento, Associate Program Specialist at UNESCO's AI Ethics Unit. “The first subgroup, led by our host Globethics, will ensure that citizens and civil society everywhere can play a stronger role in shaping AI governance.”
“Globethics is honoured to lead this critical work within the UNESCO network,” said Paola Galvez Callirgos, AI Ethics Manager at Globethics. “Building on 20 years of expertise and global trust, Globethics is designing a course for CSOs to strengthen their institutional capacities to leverage the power of AI and participate meaningfully in AI-related debates.”
Providing a Platform for Track II AI Diplomacy
Building on the momentum of the Globethics AI4Good Summit side event, Roundtable on AI Global Safety last July, GEF 2025 served as a renewed platform for advancing Track II AI Diplomacy. Globethics’ project Track II Diplomacy for Mitigating AI Risks is cultivating a multidisciplinary community of trust to deepen a collective understanding of the nature and trajectory of these risks while exploring mechanisms to mitigate them. This second milestone brought together ambassadors, international policymakers, and thought leaders convened to explore pathways of collaboration for a safer and more inclusive AI. As one diplomat highlighted, it was an “opportunity to engage with a distinguished group of experts to which we're not normally exposed”.
Launch of Women in AI Switzerland
The Forum celebrated a major step forward for gender inclusion in technology with the launch of Women in AI Switzerland, led by Hala Hibri, President at Fullbridge and Women in AI Ambassador. The initiative aims to empower women innovators, researchers, and policymakers to shape the future of AI systems and governance. In a video message shared during the launch, Dr Alessandra Sala, Global President of Women in AI, called for collective leadership: “Diversity and inclusion in AI is a global commitment and a shared responsibility. Events like this one embody that effort — investing in a future where AI reflects all of humanity, not just a narrow slice of it.”
Key Outcomes and Debates
