Ethical Leadership for an Inclusive Future

Empowering leaders, transforming organisations, building trust

The Ethical Leadership for an Inclusive Future in Sub-Saharan Africa (ELIF) project is a two-year initiative (March 2025–December 2026) jointly led by Globethics and the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC).

ELIF aims to equip leaders in Church and Church-Related Organisations (CCROs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to strengthen governance, promote inclusion, and combat corruption.

Building on more than a decade of collaboration through the African Church Assets Programme (ACAP) and aligned with the AACC Strategy 2024–2028, ELIF is active in six Sub-Saharan African countries, three Anglophone and three Francophone: Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Cameroon, Togo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ethical Leadership for an Inclusive Future (ELIF)

Why ELIF matters

In many communities, corruption, exclusion, and weak governance undermine trust and slow progress towards sustainable development.

ELIF addresses these challenges by:

  • Strengthening ethical decision-making and leadership integrity.
  • Promoting the participation of women, youth, and marginalised groups in governance.
  • Supporting organisations to adopt clear ethics policies and codes of conduct.
  • Encouraging advocacy for social, economic, and ecological justice.

A vision for the future

ELIF is more than a training programme — it is a movement to embed ethics at the heart of leadership in Sub-Saharan Africa. By empowering leaders and strengthening organisations, we aim to create a future where governance is inclusive, transparent, and trusted.

By the end of the project, ELIF aims to achieve:

  • Strengthened organisational policies and practices that promote integrity and reduce corruption.
  • Greater inclusion of youth and women in leadership roles within participating organisations.
  • Collaborative advocacy initiatives across countries to advance ethical governance and social justice.
  • Sustained partnerships between CCROs and CSOs to foster ongoing learning, accountability, and inclusive reform.
