Western Africa Centre
Globethics, working in partnership with the Kingdom Equip Network, has been present in Ghana since 2018, when Dr Emmanuel Ansah was appointed National Contact, initiating partnerships with higher education institutions across the country. The launch of the Western Africa Regional Centre in Accra in 2022 saw Susan Ackah appointed as Regional Manager, working alongside Dr Ansah towards the Globethics' mission of ethical leadership and values-driven societal transformation.
- 8 countries: Cape Verde, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia
- 33 leaders from 23 higher education institutions trained in ethical benchmarking, monitoring and evaluation with the Ethics Model of Excellence Tool (EMET)
- 90 representatives of government agencies, NGOs, and HEIs and experts participated in online discourse on ecological lessons learnt from and actions to prevent future dam spills in Ghana, in 2023
- 100 participants sensitised on digital ethics in November 2023

Our initiatives
Sustainability series
Since 2023, the Centre has engaged partners and relevant stakeholders in higher education, governmental agencies, CSOs, professionals, and individual experts in public sensitisation and capacity-building activities related to topical climate and environmental sustainability issues within the region.
2023: A virtual discourse on the Ecological Lessons from the Akosombo and Kpong Dam Spills (Ghana) led by sustainability expert, Prof. Alfred Oteng-Yeboah, University of Ghana, Accra. Supported by representation from distinguished stakeholders including the Water Resources Commission, Globethics’ Academy and the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research - Ghana.
2024: From Waste to Watts: Transforming Energy Consumption with Efficiency a virtual discussion in collaboration with the Regional Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES) at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani - Ghana. Supported by inputs from the Ghana Integrity Initiative, Energy Commission of Ghana (Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Directorate) and other expert speakers.
Higher Education - Ethics Model of Excellence Tool (HE-EMET)
The Ethics Model of Excellence Tool (EMET) equips academic institutions to conduct their own Ethics Performance Assessments and contributes to establishing ethical benchmarking, monitoring and evaluation systems for higher education institutions. In 2021 and 2022, 33 senior leaders from 23 higher education institutions in Ghana were trained in the Ethics Model of Excellence Tool (EMET) pilot workshop.

Meet the team
Regional Manager since 2022, Susan Ackah, a Ghanaian living in Accra with an MBA in Project Management and experience heading Administration and Finance at Kingdom Equip Network, manages the activities of Globethics in Western Africa; covering a mix of 8 principally English and Portuguese-speaking countries (excluding French-speaking West Africa). Within the region, the challenge is to bring awareness of ethical underpinnings in societal relations in the context of the diversities present, alongside engaging and empowering related stakeholders towards achieving sustainable societal transformation in line with Globethics’ strategic priorities.
Dr Emmanuel Ansah, Executive Director of Kingdom Equip Network, convener, trainer and pastor, has worked with Globethics as a National Contact since 2018.
In 2023, he became Regional Consul, working alongside the Regional Manager to explore partnerships with individual and institutional change influencers and nurturing relationships to create awareness about Globethics and build networks for learning opportunities, co-creation of knowledge, and joint social impact.
