Executive training on ethics and governance
Globethics, in collaboration with the Geneva Agape Foundation, successfully co-hosted an intensive executive training programme for Brazilian organisation FCL Law (Instituto Internacional de Pesquisas e Estudos Jurídicos em Liberdades Civis Fundamentais or the International Institute for Research and Legal Studies on Fundamental Civil Liberties) from 11 to 15 November 2024, in Geneva.
The programme, titled "Programa de Estudos Avançados em Técnicas Internacionais de Boa Governança, Compliance, Sustentabilidade Climática e Inteligência Artificial" (Advanced Studies Programme in International Techniques of Good Governance, Compliance, Climate Sustainability, and Artificial Intelligence), aimed to equip participants with advanced skills in governance, compliance, climate sustainability, and the ethical applications of artificial intelligence.
The training was attended by 15 high-profile professionals from Brazil, including federal public servants, attorneys, auditors, teachers, and senior officials. The diversity of the participants reflected the multidisciplinary approach of the programme, designed to address global challenges in public and private governance.
The five-day event featured a robust schedule of presentations by internationally renowned experts, interactive sessions, and visits to key institutions.

- Leadership with Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategies
Delivered by Prof. Dr Christoph Stückelberger, Founder and Honorary President of Globethics and Transparency Switzerland, this session emphasised the role of ethics as the foundation for fighting corruption in governance. - Sustainable Procurement Practices
Nadia Balgobin, an international consultant, provided insights into responsible public fund management to promote sustainability and transparency.
- United Nations Compliance Mechanisms
Dr Carlos Lopez led a session at the UN Office in Geneva, focusing on compliance frameworks within the United Nations and its agencies, alongside participation in the 47th Session of the Universal Periodic Review. - Legal Frameworks for Environmental Accountability
Dr Frédérique Seidel, Director of the Child Rights Programme at the World Council of Churches, presented strategies for promoting environmental responsibility and intergenerational justice. - Asset Recovery: Instruments and Case Studies
João Pedro Campos (Angola) and Carlos Costa (Mozambique) from the Basel Institute on Governance explored the technicalities of asset recovery to combat corruption and financial crime. - Artificial Intelligence in Governance
Fadi Daou, Executive Director of Globethics, concluded the week with a discussion on the applications and impacts of AI in governance and compliance, underlining ethical considerations.
The programme also included cultural activities, such as a guided tour of the UN Office in Geneva, facilitating a deeper understanding of international governance systems.
The training emphasised practical strategies for implementing good governance and compliance frameworks in Brazil while addressing global challenges like climate change and AI ethics. Participants engaged in discussions on applying these international best practices to their work in public service, legal frameworks, and institutional management.
The collaboration between Globethics, Geneva Agape Foundation, and FCL Law exemplifies the importance of cross-border partnerships in addressing the ethical challenges of our time.
