AI systems are rapidly being embedded into social, economic, and political life, raising pressing concerns about safety, transparency, and trust. Efforts at the international level increasingly recognise that safe and trustworthy AI requires more than technical measures; it demands ethical grounding, sound governance, and a deep understanding of societal risks, including risks to peace, cohesion, and information integrity.

This roundtable discussions brings together distinguished leaders from ethics, government regulation, multilateral norm-setting, and peace research to explore how Safe & Trusted AI can be concretely operationalised. By combining diverse knowledge systems and evidence-based approaches, the dialogue will contribute directly to the Summit’s goal of developing global, actionable, and inclusive pathways for responsible AI governance.

Session objectives

  • Discuss governance tools that help translate safety principles into enforceable policy
  • Examine risks to societal stability and peace emerging from AI use and misuse
  • Explore opportunities for practical international cooperation on AI safety
  • Generate actionable recommendations to inform Summit outcomes
