Nancy Muriithi

Nancy Muriithi is a cybersecurity leader and AI governance advocate based in Nairobi, Kenya, with expertise in security architecture, SOC operations, and GRC across East African financial services.
As Security Architect at Platcorp Group, she oversees security governance across 15 subsidiaries, bridging hands-on technical operations with strategic risk and compliance. She is also the founder of Sanctum Security Advisory, a pan-African GRC and cybersecurity consultancy, Head of Programs at SheHacks KE, and a Board Member of the WiCyS East Africa Affiliate.

Nancy holds CISSP and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certifications, is an AWS Community Builder on the security track, a former UN Millennium Fellow, and one of the Top 100 Women to Watch in Cyber in Africa.
At the Globethics fellowship, she focuses on ethical AI governance in African financial services — bridging the gap between on-the-ground East African realities and global policy conversation.

About the project

"Develop a practical AI Risk Governance Framework for digital lending and financial systems in emerging markets.
I will produce a context-sensitive toolkit covering bias mitigation, explainability standards, data protection controls, and compliance alignment — designed to be deployable by organisations without large in-house legal or AI ethics teams. Outputs will include a practitioner playbook, a policy brief for African regulators, and an open training module disseminated through SheHacks KE and Sanctum Security Advisory".
