Rachel Adams
Advisor to the Globethics Board
Rachel Adams is the author of The New Empire of AI: The Future of Global Inequality and a leading expert on AI governance, human rights, and global inequality. She is Research Professor and Executive Director of the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge, Founding CEO of the Global Center on AI Governance, and an Honorary Research Associate at The Ethics Lab, University of Cape Town.
Rachel advises governments, multilateral organisations, and mission‑driven technology actors on public‑interest AI and co‑led the drafting of the African Union’s Continental AI Strategy. Her research and publications focus on AI policy, decolonisation, gender, and human rights, particularly in the African context.
Rachel was elected as a Globethics Board Member in April 2026, with her mandate starting 1 January 2027. She is serving as an Advisor to the Board of Foundation throughout 2026.
